Public Hearings & City Council Meeting Today for Splash Pad Proposal

Magnolia mayor Parnell Vann plans to apply for a $250,000 matching grant to put a splash pad at the pool location at East Side Park. If they get the grant, the city would have to match the grant with $250,000 worth of money, labor and material. The City Council will meet at 5:00 today to discuss the application. Before they can apply, the city is required to have two public hearings in minority neighborhoods; those will also be today. The first public hearing is at 3:00 at Greater Harvest Church of God in Christ, at 227 Lodge Street. The second hearing takes place at 4:00 p.m. at Galilee Baptist Church, 905 S. Fredrick Street. Then the City Council will meet to take up the issue at 5:00 in the Council chambers. City Council meetings are open to the public.
