First-Degree Murder Arrest

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office issued a news release around 6 p.m. Friday related to a first-degree murder arrest. The release states that, “On May 11, 2018, a 911 call came in from a residence in the 2500 Block of Columbia Road 30 in reference to an individual who had been shot. The victim, later identified as Jenika Rankin, 28 of Magnolia, was pronounced deceased at Magnolia Regional Medical Center Emergency Room. Upon investigation, Investigators discovered that Keith McBride, 38 of Magnolia, was a suspect. Around 1:51 PM, Keith McBride was apprehended on South Jackson Street after a brief chase. McBride is being held on charges of murder in the first degree, possession of firearm by certain persons, and felony fleeing with a bond of $1,000,000, and his case file is being turned over to the Prosecutor’s Office.”
