Sports Update

The Magnolia Panthers played their first conference football game of the season Friday night at Panther Stadium. After a turnover and a blocked punt, the Panthers found themselves down two touchdowns in a hurry. White Hall ended up beating Magnolia 38 to 0. White Hall is 4 and 0. Magnolia is 1 and 3. The Panthers travel to Hot Springs Lakeside next Friday.

The Magnolia Junior High football teams were both winners at home Thursday night against De Queen. The eighth grade Cubs won 29 to 6, and the ninth grade Cubs won 28 to 7.

The SAU volleyball team played their first home match of the season Thursday night, and they picked up their first conference win of the season. The match went five sets, and the Lady Muleriders emerged victorious over Henderson State. They play at home again Tuesday against UAM.

Southern Arkansas University’s newly-renovated Track and Field Complex will be dedicated Saturday. The dedication ceremony begins with a track and field alumni gathering at 3 p.m., followed by a dedication program at 4:00 p.m.  After the dedication program, everyone is invited to take part in Mulegating prior to the SAU football game. The Muleriders play at home Saturday against Arkansas Tech. Mulegating begins at 4:00 p.m. north of Wilkins Stadium, and the game kicks off at 6:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Magnolia’s Country 99.1, at MagnoliaRadio.com, on the Magnolia Radio app, and on five other radio stations on the Mulerider Sports Network.
