The SAU baseball team edged Harding 5-4 in a non-conference game Tuesday in Magnolia. Timothy Buchanan was the first of five SAU pitchers; he got the win and Jared Fielden picked up his seventh save. Trevor Rucker had three hits. Justin Buchanan and Michael Page had two RBIs apiece. The Muleriders are now 25 and 13 for the season.
The SAU softball team split a home doubleheader with UAM Tuesday. The Cotton Blossoms won the first game 5-3 in nine innings, and the Lady Muleriders took game-two 5-4. Tyler Casada hit a three-run homer in the first game for SAU. Taylor Guinn drove in two runs in game two, and Chelsea Jordan got the walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Lady Muleriders are 26 and 7 in the Great American Conference, 34 and 7 overall.
The SAU baseball and softball teams face Southeastern Oklahoma State in conference action Friday and Saturday…the Muleriders play in Magnolia, and the Lady Muleriders go to Durant, Oklahoma.
