Lady Muleriders To Play Wednesday

The SAU women’s basketball team has a game at home Wednesday against Philander Smith College. The Lady Muleriders beat Philander Smith by 4 on November 14th in Little Rock. Wednesday’s game tips off at 5:30 p.m. at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center. The game will be broadcast live on Magnolia’s Country 99.1.  

Muleriders Win Big in Home Opener

The SAU men’s basketball team beat Williams Baptist College 94 to 68 Monday night in Magnolia. Jaron’ Davis led the Muleriders with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Early Morning Shooting-Suspect Sought

The Magnolia Police Department is investigating a shooting in the early morning hours Monday that left one person wounded. According to Detective Colton Burks, the incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. on East McNeil Street. Burks said the shooting did not occur at any particular residence, but was in the street. SAU Volleyball Team in GAC Championship Tournament

The SAU volleyball team is playing for a Great American Conference Tournament championship this afternoon in Hot Springs. The Lady Muleriders beat Arkansas Tech in 4 sets Friday in one of the semifinals. The Golden Suns were the regular-season champions. The championship match begins at 2:00. SAU’s opponent is Southwestern Oklahoma State.

Columbia County Circuit Court Action

A man was sentenced to a total of 16 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections Thursday in Columbia County Circuit Court. David Wesson II pleaded true to allegations that he violated his probation. He had also previously pleaded guilty to possession of controlled substance (cocaine) with intent, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wesson

Magnolia Basketball Wins

The Magnolia High School basketball teams opened their season Thursday with wins at home against Fordyce. The Lady Panthers won 46 to 31; they got 19 points from Lily Moore. The Panthers won 61 to 41; they were led by Greg Martin with 16 points and Derecus Walker with 14. The Panthers and Lady Panthers play Tuesday at Hamburg.

Four SAU Volleyball players earn honors

Four SAU volleyball players earned All-GAC honors this year. Serena LeDuff was named to the first team and Newcomer of the Year. Taylor Reaume and Hannah Rice received second-team honors, and Alli O’Banion received honorable mention. Emilie Aase was named the Crafton Tull Elite Scholar, and Rice was among the Distinguished Scholars. SAU is
